As of 1 July 2007 the Victorian Government will introduce a mandatory background check on all people working with children. This will include Volunteers and Employed people and will be phased in gradually over the next five years. In relation to Attendant Carers, checks will need to be submitted from 1 July 2007 until the 30 June 2008.

Copies of the Application form are available from most Australia Post Offices and the cost is $70 if your Employed or free for Volunteers. There are exemptions to this law and these details can be found on the Application form.
